NSA Coaching

Who Are the Coaches?

More often than not they are volunteer parents along with College and High School soccer players to assist. Many of these parents began their coaching "career" with little to no soccer experience and have developed into good coaches.

So if you are interested in Coaching, either an In-House or Traveling team, please let us know.  There will be a box to check at time of registration, or give one of our Coordinators a call.

Coaching and Player Development

This year, we’re continuing our focus on recruiting and training parents for coaching as well as providing age appropriate skills development led by non-parent coaches.   We will be hosting several MYSA Coaching Clinics to assist in training those of you that want to coach, or simply want to learn more about soccer.

We'll have a training session at the beginning of the season along with a packet full of sample drills for new coaches. We hope these actions help you coach your child to have fun with soccer.

In the meantime, there are several courses available in MN.  Please refer to the MYSA website for details:

For Inhouse Coaches and Parents, there is a Y module, designed for Ages U6-U12 scheduled in New Prague:

Feb 23:  8-12 noon at the Raven Stream Elementary School .  Please contact Jonathon Hopka for details 612-432-4777

For those of you interested in coaching U9 and older, we strongly recommend that you get your coaching license.  We will be hosting an MYSA "E" License Clinic again this year.  This two day course, will be held at the Northfield Middle School, Feb 16: 9am-7pm, and Feb 17: 9am-5pm Cost:$150 ($200 after 2/01/13).  Note NSA will cover this expense for anyone interested in coaching for the NSA.
