Refunds will be considered under the following conditions:
1) The NSA is unable to place a player on a team;
2) When a special circumstance requires the attention of the board.
When a player registers to play on a soccer team with the NSA, it is the intent of the NSA to do its best to place the player on an age and skill-appropriate team.
Registration with the NSA is taken as a sign by the player of their commitment to play soccer. Registration with the NSA does not mean a player is guaranteed a spot on a specific team OR on a team of their choice, as in the case of tryouts. (See NSA Website for Team Formation Policy)
Once teams are set, 100% of the registration fee will be retained by the NSA. A refund may be considered by the Board under special circumstances such as serious injury, illness or a family move, after registration and before the season starts.
In a case where a refund is approved by the Board, the NSA will retain $100 of the registration fee to cover MYSA fees and NSA costs for uniforms and equipment, and in the case of tryouts, for facility and evaluation fees.
Players and their families, as well as board members, must be aware that a player’s withdrawal can have a significant impact on roster size, having the potential to trigger fines from the MYSA due to the inability to field a game team because of a reduced roster.
Therefore, refunds will be considered on a case-by-case basis. The approval of any refund will not be considered precedent setting.
