ABOUT TRAVELING SOCCER
Northfield Soccer Association offers traveling teams at U10-U18 for both boys and girls, at various levels of play appropriate for each particular age group. The Northfield Soccer Association is part of the Southern Minnesota Soccer League, and our teams travel and host teams from other SMSL clubs. We offer summer (U10 - U18) and fall (U10 - U14) traveling seasons.
ABOUT SPRING/SUMMER SEASON
Registration for the Spring/Summer season is closed. If you have a player who would like to join a traveling team, please contact Tammy at firstname.lastname@example.org to see if a roster spot is available.
Spring/summer traveling teams are available for boys and girls in the U10-U18 age groups. Teams typically practice 2-3 times per week, beginning in April, weather permitting. Game play begins in early May and continues until sometime in July, depending on how far the team advances. Teams usually play one game per week for 10-12 total games per season.
SUMMER 2023 TRAVELING FEES
The 2023 traveling season is open to players born in 2014 or earlier. Fees differ by age:
U9 (2014 birth year), U10 (2013 birth year), U11 (2012 birth year) and U12 (2011 birth year): $475
U13 (2010 birth year) and older: $500
Traveling fees may be paid in full or in three installments, with one-third of the payment due at the time of registration, one-third due on January 31, 2023 and the remaining balance due on March 31, 2023. You will select your preferred payment schedule at the time of registration.
Scholarships are available. Please contact Tammy Seymour at email@example.com to learn more or request a scholarship. Scholarship recipients do not have to make any copayments at the time of registration.

A uniform kit is required for all traveling players. If your child will be playing traveling soccer with our club for the first time this summer, you must order their uniform by March 1, 2023 to guarantee arrival in time for the first game. The cost for the standard traveling kit is $85; this cost is not included in the traveling fee.
Teams will be formed immediately after registration closes. Teams are formed using two age groups per team. For example: players born in 2010 and 2009 will be placed together on a U14 team, players born in 2008 and 2007 will be placed together on a U16 team, etc. Depending on registration numbers, player evaluations may need to be held in order to group players into teams based on ability. Age groups that require an evaluation will be posted here, and players will be notified via email. For questions about team formation, please reference our team formation policy document.
Like most youth sports organizations in Northfield, we require each family participating in traveling soccer to serve a minimum of four hours per year with our association. If you agree to the service requirement, we'll send you information about a variety of ongoing or one-time opportunities. If you choose to opt out, you may pay the $200 opt-out fee during registration. Families that agree to serve but do not fulfill this obligation by the end of the fall season will be sent an invoice for $200. The service requirement does not apply to families who only participate in fall soccer. If you have questions about the service requirement, please contact Pasha at firstname.lastname@example.org.
