In-House & Academy
The Northfield Soccer Club In-House & Academy programs are non-traveling recreational soccer programs for youth ages 4-10. Offered in both the fall and the spring/summer, these programs are primarily devoted to the enjoyment and development of soccer players without an emphasis on travel or high-level competition. They're a chance for participants to have fun, learn the sport, and develop life skills.
NEW AGE GROUPS STARTING FALL 2026:
US Soccer Affiliates including US Youth Soccer have announced that beginning in August, with this next soccer season (Fall and Spring Summer) 2026–27 season, all teams and leagues including SMSL will transition to a seasonal age group calendar running August 1–July 31.
This change brings player age groups back in line with school-grade classmates—similar to the pre-2016 system—making it easier for kids to play with their friends and creating a more inclusive, development-friendly environment. The decision follows extensive national feedback and data review.
About the In-House Program
Our In-House program is a non-traveling, recreational soccer program for kids ages 4-8. We meet Thursday evenings from September 10th to October 8th at the Spring Creek Soccer Complex, where we train, play games, and have fun. Groups will be coed and will be placed into groupings of U4/U5 & U6/U7/U8.

About the Academy Program
The Academy is a developmental program for players ages 9 & 10 that bridges the transition between In-House and Traveling soccer. The Academy program offers players the chance to get significant time with the ball under the supervision of the Director, who provides feedback and guidance on technical skills and team play.
The Academy season is held Mondays and Thursdays, beginning August 17th and concludes September 17th (no session Sept. 7th).

U9: August 1, 2017 - July 31, 2018
U10: August 1, 2016 - July 31, 2017
Session times:
Boys & Girls: 6:00 - 7:00 PM
Registration Fees:
- In-house all ages: $70
- Academy: $100

- Shinguards
- Reusable water bottle
- Soccer cleats or flat tennis shoes
- Soccer ball
- U4 & U5, U6 - size 3 ball
- U7 & U8 - size 4 ball
